Guests are provided a great experience during their stay at American Hotel Register Company. By the same turn, the company’s Leadership Development (LD) program is about giving their leaders a great experience while they’re at work.
“We spend more of our time at work sometimes than we do at home,” said Amy Geltner, Director of Organizational Development. “Why not make it a really great place where you can grow and develop?”
American Hotel’s LD program was designed to help participants reach their full potential in their career development. The participants are selected through the succession management process and many graduates go onto bigger and more expanded roles. Amy said that the program was designed in a very hands-on way. Many of the senior leaders and subject matter experts within the business have helped develop the content. One program had managers design the content for the associate development program as a way to pay it forward and help others grow.
And that desire for development starts at the top. “American Hotel is third-generation, family-owned,” Amy said. “The owner is frequently seen sitting in the cafeteria eating lunch with an associate. Our entire senior leadership team embraces learning.”
